FAQ

How does it work?
A light sensor detects the amount of light and will close the door when it gets dark and open it when it gets light.

Will the door open or shut due because of lighting, full moon, passing lights, cloudy days etc.?
No, none of those situations would enable the door to open or close. The amount of light during a full moon is vastly less than daytime, likewise the opposite is true for cloudy days and night time. If you have a light that is on during the night it could keep the door open during the night. If that is the case we can send you a longer cable to mount the light sensor in another location.

Will it crush my chickens?
No, there is a safety stop built in so the door will automatically stop if something is in the way. When it is stopped it cannot be lifted any further.

How much Sun is needed to charge the batteries?
Only about an hour of direct sunlight is required. The batteries will still charge in light shade. A 15 foot cable is attached to the solar panel so you have some flexibility in where you can mount it.

Is there anything else needed to buy?
No we keep it simple with offering all the features on one product. If you need a longer cable for the light sensor just let us know at it will be added for an economical price. Since the Ladies First Chicken Door opener is used with your existing door, an actual door is not included. Depending on demand we may offer a sliding door option in the future.
